Recently, six departments including the China Coast Guard, Ministry of Natural Resources, and Ministry of Ecology and Environment jointly launched the "Blue Ocean and Blue Shield 2026" marine resources and ecological environment protection law enforcement action, which ended on November 25th.

It is understood that this law enforcement action is based on the development trend of China's marine industry, social concerns, and marine management policies, focusing on the protection of the ecological environment of uninhabited islands and their surrounding areas, key regional ecological environment protection, offshore oil exploration and development activities, offshore dumping, marine nature reserves, underwater cultural relics protection and other nine major areas for law enforcement and supervision.
It is worth noting that the time of this law enforcement action has been adjusted to 8 months, longer than in previous years, and the National Cutural Heritage Administration has been added as the department participating in the action to incorporate the law enforcement of underwater cultural relics protection into the action content, so as to better promote the protection of marine cultural resources and ensure the ecological well-being of the people enjoying the sea.
At the same time, in order to expand social participation, during the action period, the general public can provide timely clues of illegal and irregular activities through channels such as the 95110 maritime alarm service platform, the 12345 local government hotline, and the national ecological environment complaint and reporting management platform, jointly safeguarding marine ecological security.
Chinese coast guard encountered playful dolphins while cruising in the waters of Huangyan Island
Recently, during a patrol law enforcement mission near Huangyan Island in the South China Sea, the Chinese coast guard vessel encountered a group of dolphins active on the sea surface, and this scene was also recorded by coast guard law enforcement officers.
These dolphins either move forward in groups, or play and shuttle in pairs, sometimes diving underwater to chase and frolic, sometimes jumping out of the sea and drawing agile arcs, complementing the calm sea surface of the South China Sea, painting a vibrant picture of marine ecology.
As the flagship species of marine ecosystem health, dolphins have extremely strict requirements for the water quality, bait abundance, and food chain integrity of their habitats. Their frequent appearance here is a vivid witness to the sustained excellent ecological environment in the waters near Huangyan Island.
