The China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing announced today (27th) the logistics operation data for the first two months of this year. Data shows that China's logistics operation has achieved a good start, and social logistics demand has steadily rebounded.

In January and February of this year, the total amount of social logistics in China was 58.6 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.7% calculated at comparable prices. The growth rate increased by 1.6 and 1.4 percentage points respectively compared to the whole year of last year and the same period last year, indicating a clear upward trend. From a structural perspective, domestic production and consumption have improved synchronously with international import logistics demand, and logistics demand in various fields has accelerated compared to the same period last year. In January and February, the total logistics volume of industrial products increased by 6.3% year-on-year. Among them, the growth rate of industrial sub sectors exceeds 80%, and the growth rate of high-end equipment manufacturing fields such as computer, communication and other electronic equipment manufacturing, railway, shipbuilding, aerospace, etc. all exceeds 10%.

The growth rate of international logistics has significantly rebounded. In January and February, the total logistics volume of imported goods increased by 9.6% year-on-year, with a growth rate 9.1 percentage points faster than the previous year, showing a good start of high growth.


In January and February, the total logistics volume of goods between units and residents increased by 9.4% year-on-year, with a growth rate 4.3 percentage points higher than the whole year of the previous year. The booming development of new formats such as instant retail has effectively driven the strong growth of demand for new consumer logistics. The online retail sales of goods in January and February increased by 10.3% year-on-year, the highest growth rate since June 2024. The growth rate of rural consumption is faster than that of urban consumption, and the proportion of county and township consumption is steadily increasing. The demand for rural e-commerce, urban-rural joint distribution, and upstream logistics of agricultural products continues to be active, further consolidating the foundation for resilient growth of logistics for units and residents.

The logistics market continues to expand in size and steadily improves in operational quality and efficiency

From the perspective of total revenue in the logistics industry, the volume of China's logistics market continues to expand, achieving steady growth at the beginning of the year, and further demonstrating the resilience of modern logistics development.

In January and February, the total revenue of the logistics industry was 2.0 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 5.2%, with a growth rate 0.4 percentage points higher than the same period last year. In January and February, the average prosperity index of China's logistics industry was 49.4%, with a stable overall recovery and a relatively stable level of operation.

The freight network maintains smooth and efficient operation, and the transportation structure accelerates optimization. The railway freight volume in January and February increased by 1.6% year-on-year, among which the container volume increased by 10.5% year-on-year.


In January and February, the vitality of cross-border logistics continued to rebound, with international air cargo and mail transportation reaching 712000 tons, a year-on-year increase of 23.8%; The China Europe freight train has operated a total of 3501 trains, a year-on-year increase of 31.7%.

The optimization of supply and demand in the logistics market is accelerating, the level of service prices is gradually recovering, and the operational vitality of logistics enterprises is tending to improve. Data shows that the business revenue of key logistics enterprises in January and February increased by 6.6% year-on-year, with a growth rate 1.0 percentage point higher than the same period last year.

Overall, the logistics operation has started smoothly, and it is expected to maintain a steady and progressive development trend in the first quarter. The supply chain, cross-border logistics, multimodal transport and other fields will continue to develop rapidly.
